Situated on Tullamore’s High Street, Conway and Co. is a wonderful new addition the Midland’s growing foodie scene. A deep blue shop front frames a large window bearing a logo and the word, “quality teas – superior coffee”. Conway and Co. has been designed to purpose; to provide quality products unburdened by fluff or frills. The store space itself is small, only seating maybe half a dozen people comfortably, but cosy.
Though the name references a “Co” this is, in fact, actually a one-man operation in the purest sense: the minimalist plywood interiors, which seem more Portland than Midlands, were created by the eponymous owner-operator, Mark Conway, who left a career in graphic design to follow his fuelled dreams.
Mark’s passion for coffee is evident in his product. The café serves up Dublin roasted Cloud Picker coffee and offers a range of teas from Wall & Keogh of Portobello as well as a few tasty homemade treats, such as vegan brownies or whatever is the flavour of the day. Locally brewed Ko kombucha is also on offer, along with a few local artisan offerings like beeswax candles and sprouted flour.
The perfect place to sit with a book and watch the world go by or grab a high-quality take-away coffee and cake, Conway and Co. is a really haven for coffee aficionados.
