This past weekend, beauty enthusiasts around the world celebrated National Lipstick Day. All over Instagram I saw people I follow sharing their favourite lipsticks and seeing as I’m a lipstick fanatic, I thought I’d share some of my favourite lipsticks in my favourite shade: red!
No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick – Brick Red, €14
Brick Red is a matte/semi satin finish that promises comfortable and long-lasting intense pigment; sticking around for up to 8 hours. I can attest that this is one of the longest-wearing lipsticks I’ve ever tried. The Stay Perfect lipsticks are hugely underrated and overlooked, you’d struggle to find such a great quality lipstick for the price elsewhere.
Glossier Generation G – Zip, €17
The Generation G lipsticks are a sheer matte formula which makes Zip the perfect red for beginners or anyone who wants a low-maintenance red. You can’t go wrong with this one, as although it is a matte, it’s got Blue Agave and Safflower Oil in it, making it comfortable and hydrating.
Rosie for Autograph Lipstick – Super Model Kiss, €19
Admittedly, I’ve only had this shade for a couple of weeks, I bought it because I saw it on my friend and I was already a fan of this formula, having worn the, sadly discontinued, shade Laugh Out Loud to death. It’s the perfect summertime orange-red that looks amazing in the sunshine. I was looking for a cruelty-free alternative to Lady Danger from MAC and this is exactly what I wanted. The formula is creamy and hydrating as it’s enriched with argan oil but is also long wearing. I’ve had so many compliments about these lipsticks, another one that’s completely underrated and proudly cruelty-free.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – Rock Steady, €19.50
This is such a gorgeously intense deep red, it’s especially beautiful for the Winter months. It’s their cream formula so it’s easy to apply and packed with ingredients that hydrate and nourish your lips like Aloe Vera, Jojoba, Avocado Oil and Shea Butter and Vitamin C and E. Because it’s a cream, it can involve more maintenance than a matte, but for a shade like this it’s worth it, IMHO.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème – Oh Miley, €30
Oh Miley (named after, you guessed it, Miley Cyrus!) is a cool-toned classic red that I’m sure would suit many different skin tones. This formula is so buttery and highly pigmented, it glides on easily and stays on, feeling comfortable, even after hours of wear. It contains cocoa butter and seaberry, which is an antioxidant rich in Omega 3. At €30, this is on the more expensive end of the scale but the quality is up there with some of the best lipsticks I’ve ever tried.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution – Red Carpet Red, €32
Red Carpet Red is exactly what the name suggests, special occasion red that screams Hollywood glamour. It’s such a classic cool-toned red that looks and feels amazing on my lips. It’s from the Matte Revolution collection so it’s a matte finish, but a lot more comfortable than a lot of matte lipsticks on the market. The formula contains safflower oil, orchid extract to soften and hydrate your lips as well as lipstick tree extract that protects against UV damage and pollution. You’re getting much more than just a lipstick for your hard earned €32!

They all look great but think my fave has to be Super Model Kiss. Such a great summer shade!
